The Hudosn Hotel (Hell) in NYC – DONT STAY at this Hotel!

One of the worst experiences I have encountered.  We had reservations 2 months in advance,  yet it took over 2.5 hours to check in.  They didn’t get us the correct room.  After waiting for them to finally get us a room,  we found that the phone didn’t work in the living room area.  We also found that both TV sets were not working.  I used the bedroom phone to call at least 5 times to the front desk for assistance before they answered on the 5th call.  After finally getting through,  nothing ever got fixed.  Oh and if you want something to eat,  their are only 3 things on the menu.  So we ordered 2 hamburgers and a roasted chicken salad that came to $106.00.  I was worth about $10.00 at the most.  They couldn’t even get the burgers correct.  Salad greens were old and the sprouts for the burger were old, soggy and brown.  Keep clear of staying here,  never again!

Posted by SEO Inc – Social Media Links are helping SEO!

Is it true? Could it be? Are social media links actually starting to affect SEO? Well if Google Webmaster tools’ reporting is any indication of link recognition, then yeah, they are. But before we jump to conclusions, let’s elaborate on the topic a bit.

We are now seeing that links which are present in Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn posts are being recognized in Webmaster tools as external links to the domain which the Webmaster tools account is tracking. This is a new development. So what does this mean for search engine optimization and social media?

We already know that Google is a huge proponent of social media. In fact, Matt Cutts, the head of web spam at Google, has stated on multiple occasions that one great way to succeed in SEO is to create a blog and push those blog posts out through social media profiles (learn more about this here). So we know that Google wants social media to succeed. We also know that this tactic works excellent in the search space already, in fact, we have helped many clients establish this relationship. But what does this all mean from an external linking perpective? This is missing piece.

Well, in my opinion it means simply this: Google is recognizing theses links as they would any other inbound link. But here are some things to keep in mind. These links are no follow links and they do not have anchor text. So they are not a huge help for search engine optimization. But there is more to consider.

Google Confirms Their New Policy of Quality Over Relevancy

Google Confirms Their New Policy of Quality Over Relevancy
Finally after days of letting the webmasters squirm Google confirmed that the algorithm update had an effect on the long tail traffic. Google decided to change the ranking factors of both relevance and quality. Matt Cutts is quoted saying…

“This is an algorithmic change in Google, looking for higher quality sites to surface for long tail queries. It went through vigorous testing and isn’t going to be rolled back.”

In the past, if your site had lots of pages of lower quality but high relevance then they would have previously ranked well in Google for those long tail keyword phrases. But now Google has made that relevancy less important in favor of the higher quality pages. E-commerce sites were more likely to see their item description pages with few individual incoming links and less unique content suddenly drop out of sight.

The first thing to do is use your Google Analytics to check late April and early May to see if you suffered any noticeable drops in traffic due to the May Day update. If you’re seeing specific long tail keyword queries drop in rank take the time to search for them on Google.

You may have been better ranked earlier because of relevance, but now Google sees these pages as higher quality and it’s your job to find out why. For the pages that were bringing in significant traffic the way to turn this around is to build incoming links and do what you can to make these pages higher quality.

10 Tips for Advertising on Facebook

10 Tips for Advertising on Facebook

Every day, about 200 million people log onto Facebook, spending an average of 14 minutes on the site—adding up to about seven hours per month!

This high number of engaged users represents a huge potential advertising audience for your business. If you choose to tap into this audience, consider following these 10 tips for advertising on Facebook:

  1. Familiarize yourself with Facebook’s advertising guidelines. Facebook has very strict requirements for the types of ads you can place on its site. For example, ads can’t contain audio that plays automatically; they can’t contain excessive repetition; and they can’t promote “get rich quick” opportunities. Make sure you adhere to these rules or your ad will be rejected.
  2. Make sure your ad text isn’t annoying. Facebook has a feature that neither Google nor Bing has: You can close ads you don’t like. Just click on the gray box at the top right corner of the ad. Facebook will ask you why didn’t like the ad, and you can offer your feedback. If enough people close the ad it won’t be shown anymore. So if you actually want your ad to last beyond a few days or even a few hours, make sure it’s not too pushy.
  3. Find a relevant and attractive image for your ad. While ads on the major search engines can’t contain images, Facebook ads allow for one image. When I signed into my Facebook account today, for example, I came across an ad for Caribbean real estate containing a beautiful image of an island surrounded by clear, turquoise water.  Be sure to pick an enticing image that highly relates to your product or service. Then you’ll get more qualified clicks. Continue Reading 10 Tips for Advertising on Facebook
